Get An Entire Checkup for Your Computer - For Free
I have posted about having the basics installed on the computer: antivirus, spyware remover, registry fix/optimizer, and firewall software. Sure, all of this protects the computer, but you need to make sure nothing else is going wrong.
I sort of relate it to checking the oil in the car and giving the car gas. If you never check anything else on your car, somethine bad is bound to happen. Unfortunately, the same is true for the computers. But fortunately, I have the fix.
PC Pitstop is a website, which will run a diagnostic check on your computer, and tell you what is wrong, or what you should be looking out for. You will need IE to check the test though. SO even though I recommend Firefox and use it all the time, I keep IE on the computer for instances like this.
You will need to set up an account, but this is a good thing. It will save teh results of your computer check for comparisons at a leter date. I am currently running the check up right now while I write this to show you the results.
Out of a possible 613 score, I scored a 592. That’s not too shabby.
One of the problems it said is I need to upgrade my hard drive. I know this. I have a 20GB hard drive on my 3 year old laptop. I have it partitioned into a 8GB (drive C) and 12GB (drive D). I keep all of the programs I install on Drive D. This way if the operating system crashes, and I need to use reboot (I hate that word) CD’s, my programs are still there. Well, drive C has about 1.75Gb of free space. PC Pitstop wants more. Understandable.
That entire checkup lasted only 10 minutes. My recommendation, just run it in the background when you are blogging, like I just did, and get that computer fixed and optimized.
