I found a comparable Dell system, from a spec standpoint, and I stand corrected. It will not come down to price, as the iMac and the following Dell PC are pretty even.

To get a comparable system to the iMac, I added 128 mb for video, increased the hard drive from 80 GB to 160 GB. The standard memory is the same at 512 mb. The Dell has a free 19″ flat panel monitor included, compared to 17″ for the iMac. The Dell also has the dual core technology processor, and has a faster clock speed at 2.8 Ghz, compared to 1.9 Ghz for the iMac.

So in general, they are basically the same, from a hardware point of view. It would just come down to the software and the OS. I may need help with this comparison?
