How To Increase My Squidoo Rank?
So, you ran off to Squidoo, and set yourself up a lens. But now what? Are you getting any traffic to it, and how does the “Lens Rank” fit into all of this? These are excellent questions, and I will show you some testing I am doing right now to see how the rank is affected, and then if the rank affects the traffic going to it.
First of all, for the website traffic, you need to still have the squidoo lens optimized. This means you need to have a good keyword picked out for the lens. If you just set up a lens without doing a little research first, it makes it more difficult to get website traffic. Not impossible, just more difficult.
To check the competition, if you go to a search engine, and type in the phrase or word you want your squidoo lens to be about, the results should look like this:
- Google, < 900,000
- MSN, < 250,000
- Yahoo, <400,000
Chances are if the results are less than the number above, you will get a front page listing. If you want to get real specific about the competition, go to Google, and type in the word with “keyword or phrase” quotes around it. This will give you the exact competition you are up against. If this number is < 10,000, you have a winner.
You set up the squidoo lens based on the keywords from the steps above. Now to increase the lens rank. Here is the current test I am running:
I have the following lens set up: Harry Potter | Order Of the New Phoenix. My current stats are as follows:
- Lens Rank - 13,309
- Traffic for 7 days - 25
- Entertainment rank - 647
When you first launch a lens, it stays at the bottom for the first day or two, then it rockets up to 9,000 - 15,000. But does it have the staying power?
The test I am running right now is with the “Google Blog” module. I just added the Google news to this squidoo lens. I will see if this one addition will help the ranking. I expect to see the lens rank to increase to about 6,000 - 8,000 just off of this addition. It should take about 2-3 days for this to happen. Then, once it happens, we can watch the visits and see if they increase.
I will keep you posted on this little test.
