Adsense And Web 2.0

Category: Adsense

Adsense and Web 2.0 are a very good combination when used accordingly. Back in the day, it was all about content. If you could generate the most content, then you were king. And this was how the “made for adsense” sites came about. Webmasters just started cranking out as many simple websites as they could, all with a bunch of articles about a specific topic. And it worked. But a strange thing happened along the way. The revenue started drying up. And the reason: Web 2.0. Here is how you can combine adsense in a Web 2.0 environment.

Let’s start off with the definition. Web 2.0 is basically a content management system (CMS) type of website, with plenty of user action. And that is it. Some people will dress it up all fancy, but if you strip it down, it is allowing users to add their own content. This is what keeps the users coming back. They know if they like or dislike something, they can let you and everyone else know. Think of the bigger sites right now: YouTube, Digg, Del.ico.us, Ezinearticles, Wordpress, Blogger, Squidoo, Forums, and the many others. These are all systems, which allow a user to do something, or make an impact somehow, and for free. So how does this work with Adsense?

If you can strategically set up you sites, or blogs, with adsense, then you can drive people to your site from all of the other sources listed above. If you have a forum, then the users will provide the topics and content, all normally on the latest news and what is hot. This in turn will display relevant adsense ads on your page. And the cool thing about this is it is continuous, and almost runs on autopilot. You just need to provide the arena.

Here is an example. Let’s say you have a forum set up on something. You then start a new topic, and post something controversial. Nothing outrageous, just sort of like politics. You can then go to Del.icio.us and bookmark it, then go to Digg, and digg it. Others will then see this, and may frequent the forum just to comment on it. Before long, you have people commenting and digging the post, and all the while your ads are showing relevant information to what is being discussed. This is sure to help you make some money.

Today is different from yesterday. Generating a content site for the purpose of adsense will not cut it. You need an interactive website users can enjoy. And if you can find the right mix of the two, you have just found the secret to making adsense and Web 2.0 work together.
