Does The Squidoo Ranking Even Mean Anything?

Well, I guess we need to figure out exactly what you want out of your lens. If you just want it to be in front of everyone, sort of like having a high alexa ranking, then it does mean something. But, if you are setting up a lens to make some money, then it really does not mean anything.
I actually have about 30 lenses right now, and some of the ones with more visits are in the middle, and the one with the most traffic is not even my highest lens. But here is the thing, I am selling stuff from a lens which is not even my highest. On the highest ranked one? Nothing, nada, ZIP!!!
So, really, the squidoo lens ranking (rating) system has nothing to do with how high you are ranked in google, yahoo, or even msn and ask. Not a thing. Now, if you get a higher ranking in squidoo, will that increase your traffic to your lens? Maybe, but just from squidoo people setting up their own lenses. They are probably checking out your lens to see what they like and to get some ideas. But that is it.
So, do not worry about spending all of your time setting up a lens in hopes of being in the top 100. I personally do not see the importance of this. I don’t think it relates to a higher percentage of sales from outside traffic, although I can not say for sure about from the Squidoo traffic. Hard to tell on that one.
