Should I Buy A Refurbished Computer?

should i buy a refurbished computer

Your best deal on a new computer can actually be if you buy a refurbished computer. Many times, the so-called refurbished computer is actually new. Since most manufacturers and even the retailers offer a 30 day money back guarantee, computers are brought back. And, they are brought back for many reasons: damaged box, did not like it, too expensive, wife got mad, whatever the case. By law, since it is not technically “new” any more, it can not be called new. So it is now labeled a refurbished, and you can buy a refurbished computer.

If you make the choice to buy a refurbished computer, there are few things I would do to make sure it is running properly. Firstly, most of these computers have been tested again and passed everything, so you should be OK. But, I even recommend doing the following steps for brand new computers.

Step 1: Install Avast antivirus software. There may be a virus scan software pre-installed on the computer, but most likely it will not be free. You may get to use it for 30 days, heck, maybe even a year. But there will come a time when you need to pay for it, I would not. Avast works just as well as any other antivirus software on the market and it is free. Use it.

Step 2: Install an anti-spyware remover software. This software will not be preloaded. I personally use SuperAntiSpyware software. It is free, and does the job. No need to pay for this.

Step 3: Use the Windows firewall protection. This is extremely important if you are on cable or DSL internet. Once again, this is free and works just as well as any other firewall on the market. And, more importantly, it does not slow down your internet surfing.

Step 4: Install a registry repair software. If you want a free one, then use Eusing Registry. They are pretty decent. It will not remove all of the errors, but it will get some of them. I ran a test and compared this one against a professional version, and there was a huge difference. The free one found 39 errors, while my paid version found over 500 errors. Just depends on which one you really want.

These 4 steps will get any PC, whether new, old, or refurbished, back in top notch form, and running with maximum speed. And back to the original question, here is my answer. I would definitely buy a refurbished computer.
