Following Your Dream

Category: General Tips

When you have a dream and a passion in your heart, your eyes will be open to more opportunities. You will actually hear more people talking about subjects and interests of yours. There will be more people you will come into contact with that can get you to where you want to go. But it all starts with a dream.

When I say a dream, it is not something you see when you are sleeping, but rather a feeling of passion you have for something. It is something you want out of life or something you really want to do. I think most people are never asked what their dream is. And as time goes on, people forget about their dreams. I am here to tell you it is never too late to go after your dreams.

The following is a list of things I have heard when I have asked what their dream is:

1. Start my own business

2. Start a non profit

3. Volunteer

4. Travel all over the country

      5. Travel all over the world

These are the sort of things that might be important to you. Once you finally realize what your dream is, you can then come up with a plan on how to achieve this. It may require starting a home business or part time job to get some extra money, or even sacrificing some of the current expenses you might have. But just keep in mind it is for something much bigger and better. When you put this sort of sacrifice in perspective, it makes it more enjoyable to do.

My wife works at night as a waitress. Does she need to? No. Is this all she can get? Absolutely not. She has a BS in Business Administration, so she is educated. But this sort of job gives us the flexibility to still take days off and work less hours and still make decent money. Is it a dream job? No, but it is getting us to our dream of being financially free in the next 4 years (and this includes the house). So, by us having a dream, we continue to move forward with the part time jobs, freelance jobs, and my normal job.

We know that we are working towards an outstanding life, and it is this dream that makes it worth while. So, if you are not sure what you are doing, or even what you are working towards, you need to reflect on what is important to you. Once you realize this, you can then devise a plan to get there.
